13 May NWSC WELCOMES THE AMAZING GABE DIXON TO “SONGWRITER IN THE ROUND”
Gabe Dixon is the founder and lead of the Gabe Dixon Band, a three-piece ensemble formed in the fall of 1998 at the University of Miami, and is also a current member of the well-known band Supertramp.
Dixon played keyboards and sang backing vocals on nearly every track of Paul McCartney’s 2001 “Driving Rain” album. He also performed live with Paul at the Concert For New York City, a September 11 fundraiser. After Dixon respectfully declined the keyboard position on the Paul McCartney world tour to instead focus on production of his band’s major label debut, On A Rolling Ball, released by Reprise in 2002. Their song “All Will Be Well” off of the 2005 EP Live at World Cafe rose to moderate prominence when it was used in promos for the NBC show “Conviction”.
The Gabe Dixon Band released their debut album for Fantasy Records, The Gabe Dixon Band, in August 2008. In its initial days of release, it has received praise from the music press and fellow artists. The song “Find My Way” was the opening track to the film The Proposal (2009) starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. In 2011, the song “All Will Be Well” was also featured in the television show “Parks and Recreation”. The song “Till You’re Gone” was used in Bose store displays.
Gabe’s solo album, One Spark, was released on August 23, 2011. The album is produced by Marshall Altman and features a duet with Alison Krauss entitled “Even the Rain.”
Dixon is a Nashville fixture and performer in high demand. We are so excited to have him participating in the opening night of the Convention!
